THE GOD OF NU WORLD RECORDS SET TO TAKEOVER INDIE MUSIC
And that obviously wouldn't be bad news. Of course it's not news, it's an opinion, gibberish. It means as much as me saying "oh this looks like BEL-AIR's year." It does look like the poet/activist/songwriter and CEO has positioned himself to exert some heavy influence on the industry. But again, it's speculation; sometimes you get lucky and the world changes.
Usually speculation means nothing except to a small percentage of people who end up getting screwed.
So, i'll state this another way: i am hopeful as heaven's blue skin that NuWorld BEL-AIR blows up, blows up huge and takes over a dying industry. Maybe some of the lamest hoodwinkers would retire (a certain boy who looks like a lesbian and has been coddled like an egg because s/he cannot sing, that's something we've all been praying for).
I guess i want to write about NuWorld Records and now its CEO BEL-AIR because it is such an exciting yet uncertain time. And some of today's major artists, hip-hop or otherwise, started as never-will-be's. Won't name names.
Conversely there are artists who grew their empire, seem to spring from nowhere and yet still maintained artistic integrity, a loyal fanbase and a brilliant genius-of-a-mind: i suppose CHUCK D wouldn't mind a mention there -- although, true he didn't spring from nowhere -- and it was harder in the 1980s for African-americans to build empires, though CHUCK D was/is a versatile Genius like BEL-AIR.
CHUCK D always managed more than a few things in society. Anyone remember "By the Time I Get to Arizona"?
Whether BEL-AIR will be the next CHUCK D or the next RUSSELL SIMMONS (and no, i won't curse him by throwing YOUNG MC's moniker in that mix) -- he is one of the most interesting hip-hop artists emerging at this moment.
And he has a look of certainty that i wouldn't bet against. I mean, true BEL-AIR is only human, but .... He makes his Art from a place most of us never go.
And i have no idea where it is or what it's called. But it gives birth to Brilliance.
